Sunshine

The sun was warm and the strong, yet warm, wind blew my hair into my eyes. The cars went past, their sunroofs open and their wheels making swooshing sounds on the dry roads. I pulled on my dark glasses to protect my eyes from the bright sunlight bouncing off the roads and pavements. The big digital display on the corner of Beaver and Atherton said 3:06, 77F in bright orange letters. Young men and women in shorts and T-shirts ran past me, their foreheads and arms glistening with sweat, reveling in the chance to show off their beautiful and athletic bodies after such a long time.

I didn't want to go home. I wanted to stand there in the sun and the wind forever. I breathed in the sweet scent of spring. The bus came and I sat at the window, watching the green football field go by. The children were running around laughing, screaming, throwing the ball, rolling on the grass. The bus dropped me off and I resolved to go for a run.

I came into the apartment and stared outside the window for a while. I decided to work a little on my paper before going out. There were still about 4 hours of glorious sunlight left.

Its 1:00 in the morning. I got too engrossed in writing my paper and kept postponing that run by half an hour. The weather forecast predicts snow on Friday.

What a waste of a glorious spring day.
